Photo Voltaic panels (PV panels) generate Direct Current (DC) from the sun. In some cases, DC current is used to recharge
batteries or directly power lights and pumps. In most applications, the most economical approach is a "grid tie" application where
DC is converted to normal household (AC) current through DC to AC Inverters and tied in with an existing utility provider.

In grid-tie applications, "net metering" means that when you produce more electricity than you consume,
such as long, sunny days, your utility meter runs backwards. Many states, including Missouri, Arkansas,
and Oklahoma have net metering laws. See Database of State Incentives for Renewables &
Efficiency for more information about net metering and other incentive programs available in your area.
